Merlin was the legendary advisor to King Arthur. According to Arthurian legend, he aided King Ulthur Pendragon in the seduction of Igerna, wife of the Duke of Cornwell and already mother of Anna. He took the child of that night, Arthur Pendragon and left him to be raised in a humble foster home. He is said to have given the King the Roundtable as a wedding gift. He would then become King Arthur’s cheif advisor. He even managed to convince King Arthur not to make his fathers mistakes. Merlin is said to have takenMorgan Le Fay as a pupil which would be his undoing. She entombed him after learning all of his secrets.
Some myths have an element of truth. The Mage society knows that the Arthurian Myth has a lot of truth. Merlin really existed and was said to be the greatest Mage to ever exist, having obtained Archmastery of all arcarna. In ancient grimores it is said that Merlins real name was Ambrosius Aurelianus, and that his shadow name was Merlin. The name Merlin is said to be inscribed on every Watchtower. But knowing that Merlin actually existed is different to knowing the truth behind the Arthurian myth.
